Walk 1 (SHORT - 0.7 miles)

This walk joins walks 2 and 3 for the final stretch

You should be standing at the junction of George Street and Cornmarket Street (which is pedestrianised)
THIS IS THE START OF WALK 1.

You should see the tower of St Michael's Church, just a few metres down Cornmarket Street. Walk towards it and stop to admire this truly ancient monument.

The Full name of the Church is "St. Michael at The North Gate" indicating that this was the site of the old city wall.

26 - 28 Cornmarket Street

Continue along Cornmarket Street and admire the very old buildings that still remain here.

26–28 Cornmarket on the corner of Ship Street is a 14th-century timber-framed building. It is the surviving half of a building completed in about 1386 as the New Inn. It belongs to Jesus College and was investigated and restored in 1983.

Stop at the junction of High Street where you will see another tower on your right.

This is the point where the other 2 walks join up.

Stop when you get to the Carfax Tower at the end of Cornmarket Street.
