Carfax Tower, Oxford
The remnant of a 12th century church named St Martin’s Church, the Carfax Tower in the heart of the city boasts of its bell tower standing 23 metres tall offering a stunning vista of the Oxford cityscape. Also known as the St Martin’s Tower, the Carfax Tower used to act as the City Church of Oxford and now is owned by the Oxford City Council. This Grade II listed building is open from 10 am till 5.30 pm from Easter till October and from 10 am till 3.30 pm afterwards. The Six bells are the highlight of the tower and they are rung by the Oxford Society of Change Ringers during special occasions.
